  1. Love the format, thanks for sharing! Looks like the next purchase is a mic so we can hear you over the cheering crowd.

  2. What would be most impressive would be finishing that beer and being able to walk straight. Awesome work. Can’t wait to see you in Kona!!

  3. great work Lionel. Love reading, watching and cheering you on. My 7 yr old just bought new goggles and swimsuit for his trikids race – had to be “green, like Lionel”.
now he prob wants “a beer, like Lionel” 😉

  4. Good race! I also use Infinit Nutrition, they are great and it takes the guesswork out of calories and electrolytes. I was just wondering one thing: did you ever try to use it as a concentrate mix – ie: put 4-8 scoops per bottle and chase it with water after to keep the osmolality low?
I have been experiencing with it and love to be able to carry 600-1200 calories per bottle (less bottles needed), I was just wondering if you tried it and how it went for you, as I am doing IM Tremblant this year and wanted to be able to carry all my nutrition in 2 bottles and simply pick up water at the aid stations.

    • Yes, this is exactly what I did at this race. I used a “hot mix” which contained eight scoops of my custom blend. I had the bottle marked into four quarters, and tried to consume one of the quarters every half an hour, and then chased it with water. It was a bit shocking at first as the mix was very concentrated, but after the first few swigs I was used to it. I will be doing the same thing at Mont Tremblant except with two bottles of the “hot mix.” And will do the same thing on the run with my hydration belt, and will have two replacement bottles in my special needs bag for the second half of the run.

  5. As always Lionel a learning curve even for us novices. Love how you analyse everything for us laymens.

  6. Congrats on another victory today at Racine, you’re an animal dude. How many mg of Sodium do you try and consume per hour? I did my first 70.3 in Muncie last weekend and ended up with severe stomach cramps and trying to figure out what I did wrong. The idea of doing another 70.3 with stomach cramps for an entire half marathon is worrisome! Also, you should post more on Instagram dude! It’s been a while.

  7. Lionel, you’re awesome! I was at Muskoka 70.3 this year, it was my first HIM, you only beat me by a bit less than 3 hours 😉 I also was at the finish line when you won Steelhead last year! Will be rooting for you in Kona this year! You’re an inspiration!
